Srinagar: Scores of non-gazette wild life officers Kashmir held a protest demonstration on Saturday, and alleged the authorities for discrimination with the Kashmiri wild life employees and showing “step-motherly” treatment to their genuine demands.
Scores of employees under the banner of non-gazette wild life officers gathered at Mushtaq Press Enclave here in Srinagar and raised slogans against the authorities.
The protesters were shouting the slogans, “Wild life department hai hai, state govt hai hai, hamare maange pori karo.”
They were also carrying the placards that read, “Fulfill our genuine demands or face dire consequence, stop discrimination with the Kashmiri wild life employees.”
“The government is showing step motherly treatment to the employees of this belt as the department has done incompetent promotion to the employees of the Ladakh and Jammu region, but has failed in our regards,” they claimed, “we are not being provided with the basic arrears and unlike police department. We are kept far from the risk allowances.”
Talking to media persons, Secretary, non-gazette Wild Life officers association, Ferooz Ahmad, said, “Heads of Wildlife Department are changed after every four months due to which our genuine demands are not being addressed. Authorities are showing step motherly treatment towards the wildlife employees of the Kashmir region.”
“Our employees are working in the department for more than 15 years and yet their promotion is kept withheld. If the government is doing various steps to ensure the progress of wildlife department, then why don’t they think about the employees of this region?” asked Ferooz.
The protesters alleged the department for not filling up the vacancies pending in the department deliberately, “because of some politicians’ vested interests.”
“Since 1996 our department has made an immense progress but the number of employees is the same. We are facing immense work load and the posts which are lying vacant are not being filled up by the administration,” they claimed. (AIP News)
