Srinagar: Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (R-faction), Farooq Ahmad Dar alias Bitta Karate, along with his party supporters today hold protest demonstrations against human rights violations and alleged fake encounters by security forces in the valley.
Condemning killings of youth in Kashmir by the forces, he said they would not achieve anything by these killings but shame.
“Instead of punishing the persons involved in human rights violations Indian government was awarding them promotions.” he alleged
“It is a shame on Indian democracy that a top contender for Army chief, Lt Gen Bikram Singh who is involved in many fake encounters including that of Janglat Mandi (Islamabad) is not punished and put behind the bars but instead he is promoted,” Dar said.
“Janglat Mandi encounter in 2001, in which three locals were killed, was fake. But, Army and Police branded them as foreign militants. ” he said.
While demanding immediate release of Kashmiri youth languishing in different jails across India and revocation draconian laws including Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) he said, recently an innocent student Altaf Ahmad Sood of Uri was killed by CIFS personnel when he was coming back from tuitions. Within few days another innocent youth Ashiq Hussain Rather of Rafiabad was killed. In this way, innocent killings are not stopped”
He appealed the international human rights organizations including the Human Rights Commission, the Amnesty International to take a serious note of human rights violations perpetrated by police and Indian army in Kashmir.
“Promises of zero tolerance of human rights violations made by Indian Prime minister proved hollow .All the perpetrator of human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir must have been dealt under law, but no action was taken till now.” he said. (AIP News)
