Srinagar: Main opposition, leader Mehbooba Mufti, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Sunday visited family members of a youth, who was killed by security forces in Baramulla District. However the angry youth prevented the leader to meet the family member of the slain youth.
Angry people of Lasser village claimed 22-year-old Ashiq Hussain was killed by the army ‘without provocation’. However, the army said youth was killed due to accidental fire.
“A youth was killed yesterday (February 11), the police baton charged people and tear gas was fired on them. Obviously people are angry,” Mehbooba told reporters.
Attacking the chief minister Omar Abdullah, she added nothing would happen if the resentment of the people towards the state government cools down.
“It is become a routine to order inquiry and to register a FIR (first information report). The chief minister makes big statement as he did in Banihal (town). Nothing happens after people’s anger cools down,” added Mehbooba. (AIP News)
