Separatists condemn use of force on mourners in Kashmir

Srinagar: Both the factions of Hurriyat conference have strongly condemned the use of tear smoke canisters and pepper smoke shells by CRPF and police personnel against peaceful Muharram processions in Srinagar on 8th Muharram.

Talking to Agence India Press, Mirwaiz strongly condemned the act and termed it as unfortunate incident on part of authorities.

Paying glowing tributes to martyrs, he also said that on this day, the Muslims across the globe are replete with sorrows over the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) and the tragedy of Karbala.

He said that the Karbala happening impresses and urges the Muslim Ummah that they should not hesitate to sacrifice for the promotion of the sublime principles of Islam even if it means laying down their lives.

Mirwaiz said that the spirit of sacrifice and courage upholds the Muslim traditions of safeguarding their faith, sense of truthfulness and fight for the principles.

He said that the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS) demands from the Ummah to shun all differences, hatred and vested interests and start following the true path of tolerance and brotherhood. He said that martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain symbolizes the importance of struggle to achieve the righteous path.

“The jihad fought by Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) along with his companions was the peerless example of the values of humanity, patience, perseverance, courage and determination,” he added.

Meanwhile, Chairman Hurriyat (G) has also condemned the excessive use of force on mourners during the 8th Muharram Procession in Srinagar City Yesterday.

The spokesperson said that the party has strongly condemned the use of force against the mourners. He pointed out that the troops’ action showed that Kashmiris were deprived of their religious rights.

However, the party spokesman added that the best way to pay tributes to the martyrs of Karbala is to make commitment on this day to give up all forms of sectarianism parochialism, prejudices and work devotedly for promotion of tolerance, peace, and freedom for the nation.

“The martyrdom is testimony to the fact that the steadfast people can give their life behind their principles,” spokesman added.

He said that the event of Karbala gives us the message not to hesitate from any sacrifice for the cause of Islamic values and principles.

“The best way to pay tribute to Imam Hussain (AS) is to follow His footprints of resisting social and political injustices, practicing patience and ready to sacrifice for truthfulness, the spokesman of Hurriyat (G) told Agence India Press. (AIP News)
