Youth wounded in clashes in Kashmir

Srinagar: A youth was injured in clashes between the protesters and security forces in the Old City at Nowhatta area, said police.

A 17 years old youth Sahil Ahmad Khan son of Ghulam Nabi resident of Zoonimar-Soura, sustained injury in his head, when he was hit by a stray stone during stone pelting they said.

Sahil shifted to SKIMS for treatment; however doctors at the hospital told Agence India Press that his conditions are stable.

The clashes erupted in the adjacent areas of Jamia Masjid soon after the Friday congregational prayers got over.
Groups of youth took to streets against the recent spate of arrest, mostly during nocturnal raids in the parts of Old City recently, witnesses said.

As the youths tried to march, a contingent of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and police, who were deployed in strength to scuttle any protest demonstration, tried to stop them triggering clashes. (AIP)
