Srinagar: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Monday approved Rs. 60 crore 4-laning projects for widening of Boulevard road, Srinagar from Dal Gate to Kralsangari in the first phase. He also gave nod to a mega project of constructing 6-lane National Highway By-Pass from Galender to Narbal via Yechgam, Budgam which will be extended to Ganderbal in the final phase.
Omar Abdullah sanctioned these projects at a high level meeting, he chaired here. He received the presentation about the details and financial implications of these two important projects.
The Chief Minister director the executing agencies to urgently formulate the DPRs for the projects and explore possibilities of putting the Galender-Narbal Express Way on PPP mode along with Jammu By-Pass.
“I want all these projects on fast track”, he said emphasizing on kick-starting the work within shortest possible time. He said traffic jamming and congested roads are putting the general public in great inconvenience. “Our endeavour should be to concentrate on this subject positively and effectively to make a necessary dent”, he advised the concerned agencies and said that road projects aimed at streamlining ply of traffic and providing better communication facilities to the people is the priority concern of his Government.
The Chief Minister was also briefed about the efficacy of construction of a 4-lane bridge on River Jehlum near Convent School besides strengthening the existing Zero Bridge for light vehicles. (AIP)
