Srinagar: P. Chidambaram, Union Home minister will visit Jammu and Kashmir on February 3 to review the security situation and assess the political developments in the state.
“Chidambaram will review the political situation in Kashmir. The union home minister will also take inputs of various groups in state on the report submitted by Kashmir interlocutors to Delhi,” state Congress committee president Saif-ud-Din Soz said.
Talking to media persons on the sidelines of a rally, Soz said, “The interlocutors have submitted reports on Kashmir to Delhi. Till date, I have no information on how the Home Minister is responding to the reports. But I am told that he seeks a political discussion over the reports with politicians in the state,”
State Congress committee president said the he (Chidambaram) has visited Jammu and Kashmir on several occasions before, but this time I will be welcoming him. It may be recalled here that Chidamabaram’s earlier plan to visit Jammu and Kashmir had to be rescheduled because of unsuccessful ‘Ekta Yatra’ by the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). The much-hyped Yatra was foiled by the state government. (AIP)
