New Delhi: A powerful 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck Pakistan at 1:53 am on Wednesday. Preliminary reports suggest that the epicenter of the earthquake was in Southwest Pakistan.
The immediate extent of devastation was unknown though the tremors were felt as far as Delhi. Apart from the national capital, tremors were also felt in some parts of Haryana, and Jaipur and Jaisalmer in Rajasthan.
Because of India vs South Africa most of the people are awake and most of the people know about the Earthquake. We hope there are no financial loss occurred. Most of the People are out of their house due to Earthquake. This earthquake came from the way of Baluchistan and slowly disturbed India.
Local TV reports in Pakistan said the earthquake was felt in several provinces in the country.
There was no immediate report of damage from the area.
The Pacific Tsunami Center said the onshore quake had not triggered a tsunami in the Indian Ocean.
A major quake of this magnitude is capable of causing widespread and heavy damage.
Earthquakes often rattle the region. A magnitude 7.6 quake on October 8, 2005, killed about 80,000 people in northwestern Pakistan and Kashmir and left more than 3 million homeless. (AIP)
