Jammu: Bhartiya Janta Party’s (BJP) plan to march towards this summer capital Srinagar to hoist tricolor flag at Lalchowk, the Jammu and Kashmir government is mulling a strong response to prevent law and order in the State.
BJP’s Rashtriya Ekta Yatra started from Kolkata on Wednesday and likely to reach Srinagar on Republic Day Jan 26, led by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha president Anurag Thakur reportedly to hoist national flag at Clock Tower (Gantaghar) Lalchowk.
The state government is mulling a strong response against this plan of BJP.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has warned the BJP against unfurling of the tricolor at Lal Chowk in Srinagar, saying that ‘BJP alone would be responsible for the law and order problem in the state.
Omar said that BJP’s this plan would disturb peace in Valley. The unfurling of the national tricolor would provoke the Kashmiri youth to resort the violence in the state that would create law and order problem in the State, he said.
“After hardships we have got the circumstances under control in the state it is foolishness of BJP who not only want to provoke people of Valley but also planning to procure their vote bank in the State” said Ali Mohd Sagar. They should think before planning this kind of action that will lead the people of State in trouble. Sagar added.
However Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) termed it as match fixing between National Conference and Bhartiya Janta Party. PDP leader Muzzafar Hussain Beigh told Agence India Press that “this is just like a match fixing between NC and BJP”.
“Omar Abdullah should have offered BJP to celebrate Republic day with state government at Bakshi Stadium”. Beigh added.
“However BJP’s flag hoisting is not an issue for Kashmir people. It would have no impact on the circumstances of the State” Beigh said. Adding that this is the mutual understanding between BJP and NC which was pre planned”.
Beigh said that “Omar Abdullah wants to become a national hero, so he (Omar) and his father Farooq Abdullah has planned this with BJP in past. Omar Abdullah and his father Farooq Abdullah has tie-ups with BJP they want to lead their party forth. Otherwise no one has the right to hoist any flag in the other state without a prior permission of State government.
