“The Airport Express Line has got the approval of the CMRS. It will now be operational very soon,” a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation official said told Agence India Press.
“The commissioner in charge of Metro rail safety conducted a two-day inspection of the corridor on Friday and Saturday and the clearance was given,” he added.
However Delhi Airport Metro Express Private Limited (DAMEPL) is yet to receive formal letter from CMRS.An DAMEPL official while talking to Agence India Press said that “We have not received any formal letter from CMRS yet. As soon as we receive it, we will start make preparations for making it operational.”
The Commuters on the other hand are very happy with this decision. One of Frequent Metro Traveler Ajit Abrahim told Agence India Press that, “I am eager to take a ride on a train which runs at a speed of 120 Km per hour.”
The 23-km link will connect the Connaught Place with the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. It has already promised to take commuters from New Delhi Railway Station to the airport in 18 minutes.
The airport Express line has six stations — New Delhi Railway Station, Shivaji Stadium, Dhaula Kuan, Delhi Aero City, Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport and Dwarka Sec-21.
It is to mention here, this line had already missed the Common wealth Games deadline, and this corridor already failed a safety test in September.
