Srinagar: Authorities on Friday imposed curfew in the old city areas of Srinagar and some towns of south and north Kashmir to thwart the proposed ‘Bijbhera Chalo’ by Syed Ali Shah Geelani led hardline Hurriyat which is spearheading ‘Quit Kashmir’ Movement in Indian Kashmir.

Hardline Hurriyat has appealed to the people to march towards South Kashmir’s Bijbhera town where 40 people were killed in the Security Forces firing on the same day 17 years ago.

“Curfew was imposed in old city areas of Srinagar and some towns of south and north Kashmir as a precautionary measure as we didn’t want miscreants to disturb law and order,” a senior police officer told Agence India Press.
