Geelani interrupted in Delhi seminar

Ashish Mehra

New Delhi: Unruly scenes were witnessed in the capital’s LTG auditorium when the seminar – where hardline separatist Syed Ali Shah Geelani was invited – was underway. Even before Geelani spoke – protesters led by several Kashmiri Pandits organisations barged in and staged protests against Geelani.

According to Agence India Press reporter, there was heavy sloganeering between the groups present inside the hall when one of the speakers Professor Sujatha Rao raised the Azaad Kashmir pitch and said the Indian state should be given to Kashmir Azadi.
The seminar was titled ‘Azadi the only way’.
Besides Geelani, several prominent figures from India and abroad also participated in the seminar.

Hurriyat veteran leader Syed was invited to talk at an event in the capital. The Central government has appointed veteran journalist Dileep Padgaonkar, eminent educationist Professor Radha Kumar and member Information Commission MM Ansari to hold talks with different sections of the people in the Kashmir.
