Washington: The Kashmiri American Council (KAC) has appealed to the President of United States Barak Obama to respond to the recent cries of masses in Kashmir.
The petition emphasizes the fact that a settlement of the Kashmir dispute has the potential to eliminate the ground for militant extremism in South Asia and of the arms races between India and Pakistan.
A message displayed at the online petition site page says “The tragic situation in Kashmir demands the urgent attention of the world powers in general and the United States of America in particular. It was under the leadership of the United States that the United Nations Security Council has passed a resolution (47) which says that the future of Kashmir must be ascertained in accordance with the wish and the aspirations of the people of Kashmir. The United States was also the principal member of the United Nations Commission for India and Pakistan (UNCIP) which was established by the Security Council to set a stage for a final settlement of the dispute.”
KAC urged all peace-loving people to sign the petition along with their family and friends. Everybody is encouraged to forward the petition to their acquaintances.
