Srinagar : Foetus of two women died in their wombs as they could not reach hospital on time, sources told on Thursday.
They said that doctors had referred Khalida wife of Nazir Ahmed from frontier district of Kupwara to Srinagar. “The ambulance the patient was in was stopped at various places by the police and the CRPF men and lot of time was wasted,” they said, adding that by the time patient could reach the Lal Ded hospital, her baby died in the womb.
In yet another case a woman Naseema wife of Shabir Ahmed of Khag lost her foetus while traveling from Khag in central Kashmir to Srinagar. “The ambulance being stopped at various places led to the death of the baby in the womb itself,’ sources added.
A doctor pleading anonymity said that had the troopers and policemen allowed the ambulances to move on tragedies could have been averted.
