Srinagar: An ailing woman from frontier district of Kupwara died on way to Srinagar on Wednesday when the paramilitary CRPF troopers stopped the ambulance she was in near Model town Sopore in north Kashmir.
“Troopers despite our repeated pleas did not allow the ambulance to proceed towards Srinagar,” said a medico who was traveling in the same ambulance.
He said that by the time they begged and pleaded before the CRPF men, woman breathed her last. “We took her back to Kupwara and handed over the body to her family,” the medico added.
Meanwhile, staff members of SMHS hospital on Wednesday accused paramilitary CRPF troopers of assaulting one of their colleagues, Sabzar Ahmed, brutally.
“Sabzar was waiting for the ambulance near Nawab Bazar when a huge contingent of CRPF appeared and started beating him mercilessly. They tore the curfew pass and his identity card,” In charge of the Trauma theatre-SMHS- told over phone.
He said that Sabzar has suffered critical injuries and he is battling for his life.
