Mirwaiz leads March, Sit-in protest in Srinagar

Srinagar : The scores of people led by the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (M), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other Hurriyat leaders held a protest demonstration at Rajouri Kadal against the killing of youths by security forces in Kashmir and staged a sit-in, now Marching from Rajouri Kadal towards Lal Chowk.

Eyewitnesses told Agence India Press that pro-freedom slogans are reverberating in the old city and the people are joining the procession in large numbers.

The demonstrations were raising high-pitched slogans in favour of freedom. A Kashmiri youth was killed by CRPF in Tengpora area on Tuesday morning and several were injured when CRPF opened fire on a group of protesters agitating against the killing of another youth the previous night.

They said the youth, Muzaffar Ahmad, was fleeing to evade arrest by CRPF last night when he slipped into a stream and drowned.
