Sixth batch of Amarnath Yatries left for yatra


Jammu: Over 55,000 pilgrims paid obeisance at the 3888-meter high Amarnath cave shrine in South Kashmir Himalayas as a heavy rush of devotees was witnessed for the sixth straight day today since the annual pilgrimage began on June 30.

The 6th batch of 3094 pilgrims, comprising 2106 men, 738 women, 111 children and 139 sadhus, left the twin base camps of Pahalgam and Baltal in Jammu in a convoy around 0800 hours amid tight security, on Monday left here for their onward journey to the Amarnath yatra.

The batch, comprising 2,106 men ,738 women, 111 children and 139 sadhus, had already crossed Udhampur by 1100 hours and were expected to reach Pahalgam and Baltal camp by the evening, officials said here.

The batch left from the base camp of Bhagwati Nagar in a fleet of 118 vehicles amid security at 0800 hours.
