Srinagar: On the ongoing protests in the valley over the death of youths in firing by police and paramilitary personnel, Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party today called for the intervention of the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
“Prime Minister should intervene and remove the chief minister Omar Abdullah. Governor’s rule should be imposed in the valley immediately,” JKNPP Chairman Bhim Sigh said at a press conference here.
Singh demanded a judicial inquiry by a sitting judge into the killing of youths in the valley.
He condemned the statement of Home Minister P Chidambaram about the influence of Lashkar-e-Taiba behind the protests in the valley and said, “PM should send an independent team to probe into it.”
He also said that the ban put on the local channels here is a “suppression of the right to information”.
